BYLAWS
Article 1 – Amongst its statute aims, the Council’s purpose is to defend the distinctiveness of Clinical Psychology and its confines from related (contiguous) and/or similar scientific disciplines.
Article 2 – Clinical Psychology is characterized by a variety of models, methods, theories and techniques, each of which has its own historical reason. Its core and indispensable common denominator is clinical practice, be it intended for individuals, groups, or collectives.
Article 3 – Clinical practice is the matrix of scientific investigation in Clinical Psychology and it defines its investigation objects. Scientific research is qualified based upon its salience in the practical field. A more articulated definition of the Clinical Psychology and its application area is reported in Appendix N. 1, which is an integrating part of these bylaws.
Article 4 – Clinical Psychology implies a psychological clinical practice, which differentiates itself from a medical practice. Clinical interventions shall be defined as methods aimed to modify mental status, behavior patterns, and relationship systems. Different methods in Clinical Psychology have the purpose to improve adaptive and functional conditions, through the procedure of the “single case”, which can be constituted either by one or more individuals, in group and/or institutional setting. Different forms of psychotherapy hold a fundamental position in Clinical Psychology.
Article 5 – Clinical Psychology interventions relate to a variety of problematic situations, relevant both from a personal and social perspective, in which psychopathology is constituted as a possible, but not exclusive, indication together with evident distress situations, and with personal and social ambitions to change.
Article 6 – The Council, in its orientation and intervention autonomy, proposes to co-operate, wherever it is required, with other organizations that are representative of Psychology. (Faculty Boards of psychological subjects in Medicine departments, Italian Psychologists Association, and other associations).
Article 7 – The Council, despite its focus on scientific, academic, and clinical activities of psychologists belonging to the academic scientific field, will consider the general professionalism of all those psychologists working outside the Academia, from which they are formed and legitimated. As such, the Council co-operates with the Ordine of Psychologists (particularly as far as the List of Psychotherapists is concerned) in order to realize a specific professional competency.
Article 8 – The President and the Board are invested of the operational responsibilities related to the above-specified articles and shall report to the Members as far as those articles are concerned.
Article 9 – Unconfirmed Researchers, unconfirmed Associate Professors, and Assistants may be part of the Council as long as there is availability of positions.
Article 10 – The Board realizes its statute aims, considering also individual members’ proposals, by constituting specific commissions for the development of relevant themes. In first place, the Board, according to the program’s specificity, will indicate the most salient themes that will be managed by the Commissions. Each commission requires a coordinator; it elaborates a program of objectives; it reports on the project development to the Board of Directors at least each trimester.
Article 11 – In the election of the Board of Directors, from 1 to 5 votes are available to each Member (who has regularly paid the annual dues); therefore, each Member can indicate on the voting form up to five candidates. As far as the Trustees are concerned, 1 to 3 votes are available to each Member who can indicate on the voting form up to three candidates. Those candidates who will receive the highest number of votes will be elected. Whenever candidates should receive an equal number of votes, election will occur based on seniority.
Article 12 – Those who compete for the position of President of the Board of Directors are required to present a written program.
Article 13 – The Board of Trustees has the assignment to manage any controversy and it shall offer advice on the matters indicated by the Board.
